The Ultimate Fighter 4/27: A beautiful badass woman, silly pranks, and a great fight with a controversial ending

Last week’s fight was awesome and either guy could have won. Cofer just seemed to gas out in the third round and Pichel sunk in a nasty choke. Coach Cruz was pumped up after the fight and Cofer was very disappointed. The fight for this week was picked and Chris Saunders (Faber) was set to fight Sam Sicilia (Cruz).

Cruz brought in the beautiful Ronda Rousey to help the guys train. She is a world champion Judo competitor and the reigning 135lb Strikeforce women’s champion. All the guys respected her skills and her Judo throws were wicked. She even went over to the house to watch the big UFC pay per view match between Rashard Evan and John Jones. All the guys seemed very awkward around Ronda. She was treated as if she was in a bubble during the fights. She was craving salty nuts all night, but not the kind you perverts are thinking about.

The housemates have stepped up the pranks. Underwear in the freezer was one cool prank. They also liked using super glue a lot and some fighters were on edge. The pranks spilled over to the UFC training facility. Coach Faber moved some workout equipment into team Cruz’s war room. Faber and his team then proceeded to oil themselves up and workout for 45 minutes. They put the stank on the room and Cruz was not happy about it.

During training the pink haired Saunders was mentioned as the big underdog this week. He was the last fighter picked and has had to prove he is more than just a street fighter during training. Faber was confident he has improved a lot since week one. Cruz mentioned how tough he thought Sicilia to be after Sicilia had beaten one of Cruz’s training partners in the past. Cruz was also impressed with Sam’s stamina and work rate.

The fight was pretty good. There was a lot of clinches on the cage, but Saunders was usually active with knees and punches to Sicilia’s body. Sam got hit with a huge head kick and almost went out cold. The referee even made a move towards Sam to stop the fight, but he recovered quickly. Saunders continued to kick and knee while Sicilia looked out of it most the first round. Sicilia was throwing wild punch and had his hands down. Near the end of the first round, Sicilia landed a big right hand dropping Saunders for a second.

The second round had more action. Sicilia was landing more punches and the two found themselves in different positions on the ground. Every time Saunders looked to have Sicilia on the ground in a dominant position, Sicilia switched the position. Midway through the round Sicilia hit Saunders with a giant left hand that crumbled Saunders, but after falling to the ground, Saunders got the top position. Saunders got in some ground and pound and seemed to recover from his near blackout a few minutes earlier. I felt there should have been a third round, but I could see Saunders winning both rounds. Chris Saunders won by split decision for the upset. Dana White also thought the fight should have had a third round, but also said that the fight was very entertaining, Both men showed each other a lot of respect after the bout.

The last preliminary fight was set with the only two guys yet to fight. Mike Rio will fight Andy Ogle next week.

Should there have been a third round this week?
