Kim dominated the game physically and socially and the result of her winning was only shocking in that Sabrina got even one vote let alone two. Kim said her strategy was to get to know each person well and create a bond fake or not with them. Kim also stressed the less than obvious fact to some of the other survivors that the one million bucks was more important that the bond she had created for 20-30 days on the island. She also opened up about her recent divorce and how the game gave her strength.
Jeff Probst thought the biggest move of the game was when the men and women were even and troy was convinced to send Mike home. The women alliance stayed strong and proved to be very good for the ladies. Jeff was a bit shocked the women never made another big move to try and stop the domination of Kim, but it was commonly discussed that the bottom girls and Tarzan were just happy to be around a little longer. Jonas said he would have made bigger moves, but I don’t think he was ever in position to really make any moves. The crazy move by Colton and company of reducing their male tribe by one was also brought up. After the fact Jay and Mike said that they were against it, but that was not true.
Tarzan was asked if he had a plan in the game and he started to say yes, but again he got side tracked. He also said he was called Tarzan since he was eight years old and that he was in fact a great surgeon, but has retired. His love of his wife and his frugal nature was also brought up. His wife was asked if he really so crazy and she said no. They truly seemed in love and it was cool look into Tarzan’s “real” life.
The big topic of the reunion was Colton and his actions, words, and overall disgusting attitude. He was accused of being a bully and with recent media attention to bullying; it was not a good thing for him. He did not save himself with his explanation of his actions. He pretty much said he thought he had to be that way to win. He also did not clearly answer the questions about his true self. It seemed like the person we saw on the show was in fact him in real life. His mom was very embarrassed by him on the show and also his lack of change on the reunion. Bill did not feel satisfied with Colton’s explanation of it being game strategy because a lot of his insults were directed to the camera when no one was around or said to Bill when they were alone. It was discussed with audience members and most agreed Colton was not a villain we loved to hate, but rather a villain we despised on all levels. For some reason the girl that played Blossum on TV was in the audience to defend Colton, she said he was complex and that made his hate ok. I believe Colton had misplaced anger towards people like Bill, but Bill was never anything but nice and cool with Colton, so I feel Colton may just be a mean person. I did agree with Colton that his departure from the show did make it a lot less interesting. It was almost like the shock of Colton negatively affected the game throughout the crucial mergers and big move points.
Kat’s touching story was revisited. She is going in for surgery and she had forgiven Kim. Her crazy dances and sayings on the show were her and she was happy about it. She is a free spirited person who lives life to the fullest.
Alicia took some major heat on the Internet about her calling Christina a special needs person, despite the fact that she is a special needs teacher. Alicia broke down in tears and unlike Colton; she completely apologized for her comment. She also was very endearing with her explanation of her love for her job. She went up in my book a lot and maybe the lack of food made her delusional on the island.
Troyzan was also asked about his cult following. He did become somewhat of a hero when he was the lone wolf on the island. I agree that he was one of the best players ever even though he left in 8th place. He was severely hindered by the fact that the girls didn’t have the brains to make a big move. A normal cast would have made him get farther, but he did make one of the worst mistakes in Survivor history when he believed a lie and voted out Mike with no questions asked.
The next season of Survivor will be its 25th and would be perfect time to increase the grand prize and maybe add some other interesting tweaks. There should not be tribes formed by age or gender and no former survivors as team captains. Either a full all-star season, or my idea of Big Brother all stars or Amazing Race all star teams.
