The Bachelorette 5/28: Climbing walls and dancing to Luke Bryant with Chris, Group date at the Park, Tony misses his son, Dollywood with Arie

Week 3

To be Emily and get breakfast in bed from her mom to start off her day. Over at the house, Host Chris drops off the first date card. Chris gets a one-on-one date and his card reads “love is a steady climb”. Emily takes him to dinner, but the restaurant is at the top of the building and they have to climb to get up there…apparently there is more bonding involved in scaling a wall than taking an elevator. Not in the plans is a storm coming, making it windy and a bit scarey. Chris makes Emily feel comfortable, he seems super nice. Fans are also below cheering them on and taking pictures. At the top Chris wants a kiss, but goes for a high-five instead, aww man, you missed your memorable moment/first chance! At dinner, Emily shares that Chris is so cute and at a bar she would be afraid to approach him..so flattering. He is 25 and tells Emily that, she changes mood a bit and is worried at such a young age he may not be ready for her and Ricki. Chris clarifies he is man, mature and ready for his next step of life. Emily follows her heart and gives Chris the rose, he is so happy, they are cute together. They go on to see Luke Bryant, a country singer perform an outside concert. They dance and it is adorable. A little cheesy, he asks if he can give her a kiss….and they kiss. Not sure if he is too nerdy for her..first impression she likes him, not sure if he is the one yet.

At the house, Tony calls his son and really misses him. Is the time apart from his son worth it for him to find love and possibly bring home another member of their family? Such a hard decision. The next date card comes and it’s a group date that says “Let’s Play”. – The guys meet Emily at the park. She greets them and then walks away. She comes back with her girlfriends. She filled them in on the guys and then brings them over to interview/interrogate them. She wants them to find out who would be the best dad. They grill these dudes about wanting to be a dad, if they have cheated, why did they come on the show, worst qualities…John “the wolf” said his interview went horrible. Some of the guys dance, do push-ups, anything to impress Emily’s friends. Wendy loves Sean and all that he shared about his family and faith..actually I think Wendy wanted to fly away with him..she got him to take off his shirt and do push-ups..and then she sat on back while he did 3 more! Wow, her husband needs to have a talk with her when she gets home.

Part 2 of the group date, tons of screaming kids join the guys at the park. They all play on the swings, take rides on the slide…Ryan sneaks away and interrupts girl time. It comes up that he doesn’t want his wife to get lazy or slip up on her appearance after marriage..he would still love her, just not love on her as much. The girls tell Emily who they like the best – Sean, Doug and Ryan.

Part 3 of the group date, they go to Butter, for some snacks, drinks and conversation with Emily. Doug shares a deep, emotional story about losing his dad and separating from his sister in and out of foster homes. Made Emily teary. Then Tony gets teary with Emily telling her how much he misses his son. She wants him to hang in, but you can see in his eyes he is breaking. Tony and Doug have a father-to-father bonding talk. Doug is awesome, although Tony is his competition, he tells him his son will be fine, Tony calls his kid and just breaks down afterward. Question, who watches these kids while the parents are away for so many weeks? Emily comes to check on Tony and sees him crying. They talk and Emily thinks it’s best that he goes home to his son. She couldn’t guarantee him in the end, it is just too early. Tony hops in the car and although will misses out on a chance with Emily he can’t wait to get home.

Sean got the group date rose.

Back at the house, Arie gets the next one-on-one date that says “Love is a Wild Ride”. Arie gets picked up in a limo then a jet ride. They go to Dollywood, wow who knew Charlotte had so many things to do? It’s a theme park, but only open for them. They play some games and try to win prizes for Ricki. Emily goes on her first real roller coaster ride, Arie tries to calm her nerves. They go into Dolly’s theater to write a song together and Dolly SHOWS UP, Emily is in shock!! Wow, she is good and sings a song she wrote just for Emily and her show. They get up and dance to Dolly, how memorable. Dolly asks for alone time with Emily and shares how she has been with her husband for over 45 years! She sings another song, one about her and her husband, they dance again, very sweet. The couple has dinner together. Arie shares how his ex had two kids that he got very attached to. He asks Emily about Brad and she finally reveals that he may not have been ready for kids the way he thought he was going to be…surely a factor in them not working out. Emily acts like she isn’t going to give him the rose, he turns bright red, she gives him the rose. She says she isn’t worried about him being a driver or traveling, as long as he misses her when he travels. They ride the carousel and kiss.

Cocktail/Rose Party – Kalon gets the first one-on-one conversation with Emily. He says he was upset he had the week off with no dates. She asks him about her being a mom and he says it isn’t how he pictured life – at least he is honest. He thought his first kid would be his not taking care of someone else’s. He gets upset that Emily keeps cutting him off and asks for her to let him finish talking…she doesn’t like that, you can read it in her face. This guy is obviously use to his way, not sharing and being in control. Emily will either have to keep him for the drama..or let him go, b/c he doesn’t stand a chance. Travis calls Emily outside and smashes “shelly the egg”. Some guy I haven’t seen on the show yet, Alessandro, sits with Emily. They talk about kids. He uses the word comprise when talking about Emily and taking on her and her child. He would be comprising his status and life by being with her. She first wonders if they have a language barrier, but he sticks up for himself and says nope, I know what i’m saying. She is just weirded-out. She walks him out of the party, the house and the show. He says in the car, he couldn’t provide for her as he is gypsy himself. Later, they flashback to his interview with Emily’s friends. He says he dated his 3rd cousin who had a kid. He has cheated and had a one night stand. He says he can’t comprise, he can’t even take care of a pet…haha, the girls go then you should leave, how would you take care of a child then? peace homie.

Who is here for the right reasons? She wants someone to be happy to be with her, lucky to be with her NOT a compromise. Arie is there to talk with her, kiss her and tell her to think of their fun date together. Sean pulls Emily aside and tells her he would be the best dad for Ricki. Exactly what Emily wants to hear. They kiss. Maybe they should rename the show…let’s find a father for Ricki??

Jef gets the first rose..they show the guys standing and waiting for their names to be called and there are a few no-named dudes, have barely seen them–give them some TV time, before you boot him. Kalon got a rose, weird, but the show may need him for the WHAT moments. Last rose goes to some guy named Nate. Stevie is the only guy sent home and you can see the smirk on Kalon’s face. Stevie is sad, wanted more time or his own spin-off show?

Ryan is upset that he saw Emily and Arie kiss and challenges him to compete. The show heads to Bermuda next week.
