Nichole is a young alcoholic. Her mom Brenda has been very scared for her daughter recently. Nicole loves the taste of beer and can drink up to 18 cans a day. She has been drinking heavily for 10 years. Nichole will also drink any other alcohol to get her fix. Nichole has had sex for alcohol and money. During the show Nichole’s speech was extremely labored and she acted like a zombie most times on air.

Nichole has experienced black outs up to 5 times a week and her trembling and shakes have gotten much worse of late. She even was hospitalized for alcohol withdraws a month ago. Her family fears the worst for Nichole and they have had to watch her destroy herself.

Nichole’s father Dwayne was a binge drinker as Nichole grew up. Dwayne was a mean dad and was very strict. He admitted he was not ready to be a father and his distance hurt Nichole a lot when she was growing up. Nichole had an older sister Samantha that she was extremely close to growing up because they were only 21 months apart in age. Nichole loved alcohol at a young age and her mom often facilitated her daughter’s drinking. Nichole was very popular in high school because she was known as a party girl. Nichole’s ex-girlfriend Matt lived with Nichole and her family. The whole family loved Matt, but after he dated Nichole for 5 years he left her for her sister Samantha. Matt claimed that the switch just happened and nothing was planned. Nichole was devastated by the betrayal. Nichole was suicidal after the break up and she started to do drugs and drink at a new level.

Nichole has hit rock bottom, she has crashed cars, gone to jail, and already hurt her body permanently with her drinking. She lives with a guy named Tony that hurts her emotionally. Nichole has had a terrible track record with guys. She picks guys that enable her drinking, but treat her like shit. She is still devastated by the Matt and Samantha thing.

Nichole uses her mom’s love to get whatever she wants. Brenda buys Nichole alcohol all the time to avoid the dangerous withdraws from alcohol. Brenda’s drinking is epic; she was putting a clinic on drinking during the entire show. Her father Dwayne quite drinking 7 years ago, but he has been less than supportive in his daughter’s sobriety. Matt and Samantha have been together for 6 years, but Samantha’s family loathes Matt. Samantha has been disowned by her family. Samantha and Matt got engaged 6 months ago.

Samantha visited her sister Nichole and Nichole said she still loved her sister, but that she screwed her whole life up. Nichole told Samantha to leave before she got violent towards her. Brenda had been making things worse by rubbing the situation in her daughters face. The therapist wanted everyone to take responsibility for their role in Nichole’s addiction. Dwayne needs to step up and Brenda absolutely needs to stop enabling the drinking and splitting the family over Matt. Brenda denied she was a problem and the therapist had to give her a wakeup call. The therapist wanted the entire family to go to the rehab program.

The intervention was set up and Nichole was brought to the site. Nichole immediately was against the intervention, but the therapist was able to get her to sit down and listen. Her dad Dwayne was first to go and he had some long overdue loving words for his daughter. He vowed to be a better father and he told her that he loved her and Nichole broke down in tears. Brenda went next and she begged her daughter to go to rehab. Nichole asked for a drink at that point. Samantha then read her letter and it rang a hollow to me. She did address her previous bad decisions in the past, but she did not seem that sorry. Nichole decided to go to rehab and the whole family was thrilled. She got in the van and headed off. She arrived at Cedars treatment center at Cobble Hill in Victoria Canada to start her rehabilitation. She was in terrible shape and her situation was one of the worst the staff of the center had ever seen.

THREE MONTHS LATER: Nichole was clean and sober and she looked like a different person. She looked healthy and she said she felt so much better than before. Her mental state has slowly gotten better and her coordination has also improved since getting clean. She felt great, but she knew she still had a lot of work to do. After 99 days sober she stopped treatment and was arrested for public intoxication within 24 hours. The relapse was actually a good thing for Nichole as she realized she could not drink at any level again and that she would need constant support. Matt and Samantha are still together, but they are not engaged anymore.

Nichloe has been sober since May, 2012.
