50 Best Coming of Age Movies

I was driving to work today and the local radio station was talking about a list Film.com released of the 50 Best Coming of Age Movies. I found myself laughing, reminiscing, and hollering at the radio as people called in and tried to guess the top 10 movies.

Here are the top 10:

#1.)  “Stand By Me”,  1986

Stand by Me

#2.)  “Dead Poets Society”,  1989

#3.)  “The Breakfast Club”,  1985

#4.)  “Almost Famous”,  2000

#5.)  “Big”,  1987

#6.)  “The Graduate”,  1967

#7.)  “400 Blows”,  1959

#8.)  “The Goonies”,  1985

#9.)  “Carrie”,  1975

#10.)  “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” . . . which hits some theaters today.

The complete list can be found here.

There are a few I have never seen; 400 Blows (really old), Carrie…but, the rest I loved and have seen more than once. Other great movies in the top 50: Can’t Hardly Wait, American Pie, The Sandlot, Superbad, Dazed and Confused, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Karate Kid, Sixteen Candles, Clueless, Dirty Dancing – LOVE..

Any movie you see missing from the list? Or thought should have been ranked higher?

  1. Goonies is my all time favorite movie!
“you know what? This one, this one right here was my wish, my dream and didn’t come true, so I’m taking it back, I’m taking them all back!”-Mouth (corey Feldman)
I also am a big Bronx Tale Fan. American Pie and Karate Kid should have been higher.
I am very ok with Stand by Me at the top
